Our Team

Mental Health in Primary Schools (MHiPS) is a partnership between the Centre for Community Child Health at the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute and the Faculty of Education at the University of Melbourne.

The Centre for Community Child Health and the Faculty of Education have united to create a powerful partnership dedicated to building the capacity and capability of primary schools to recognise and respond to student mental health and wellbeing needs. Together, the partnership strives to ensure every primary school across Australia has the opportunity to benefit from the MHiPS initiative.

The Centre for Community Child Health, at the forefront of children’s health and development, integrates cutting-edge research, exceptional clinical care, and evidence-based solutions, with a focus on prevention and early intervention. The Faculty of Education, a leader in addressing global educational challenges, enhances this work by ensuring education and educators are at the forefront of solving the world’s most intractable problems. Through this partnership and alignment of effort, both institutions strive to create a brighter, more equitable future for all children. This collaboration leverages the strengths of the Melbourne Children’s Campus, including The Royal Children’s Hospital, Murdoch Children’s Research Institute, and the University of Melbourne’s Department of Paediatrics, to shape this impactful, game-changing initiative that influences both education and child health.
